A Japandi-Inspired Family Home in Keilor East
Project type
Residential
Date
2025
Location
Keilor East
This Keilor East project was a custom kitchen, laundry and walk-in robe joinery package, completed in collaboration with one of our trusted builder partners.
The brief was warm, modern and minimal. We used Polytec Boston Oak in a woodmatt finish across all three zones for a calm, consistent look, with square finger pull handles to keep the cabinetry clean and uninterrupted. Two custom features bring softness to the kitchen — an arched timber rangehood that runs to the ceiling, and a curved end on the island bench. Together they balance the straight lines and give the room a sculptural focal point.
Every zone was designed around how the home is used day to day. The long island gives plenty of room for cooking, prepping and gathering around with family. The kitchen layout keeps the cook connected to the dining and living areas, with a fluted glass splashback window pulling natural light across the bench. The laundry is built for a busy household — a long run of cabinetry with the washer and dryer tucked neatly under the bench, plus overhead storage to keep everything out of sight. And the walk-in robe is layered with drawer towers, open shelving and double hangers, designed to hold a full, lived-in wardrobe without losing order.
A great project, and a great collaboration.
